I have over 10 years in licensing and business development experience that includes building significant research collaboration and licensing partnerships between academia and the life sciences industry. I also have significant interest and experience in starting venture backed companies based on university technology.

I did my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in the lab of Jon Minden, studying the role of programmed cell death in Drosophila embryonic development. I also have a B.S. in Cell and Structural biology (with honors) from the University of Illinois where I did neuroscience research.

My roles include faculty engagement to learn about the commercial relevance of their research and to educate them on what makes a "good invention", evaluating market opportunities to facilitate UCSF based start-ups, and building new relationships with industry and early stage investors. My focus areas include diagnostic, therapeutic, digital health and medical device technologies.
