Catalyst LaunchPad

The Catalyst LaunchPad was founded at UCSF and the majority of the other University of California campuses in August 2019 with a grant from the Blackstone Charitable Foundation.  The LaunchPad supports and promotes the entrepreneurial mindset, process, and tools in:

  • UCSF Medical, PhD, MTM, Dental, and Nursing Students
  • UCSF Trainees, including Postdoctoral Scholars, Medical Residents, and Clinical Fellows
  • UCSF Alumni

The goal of the LaunchPad's programming and opportunities is to make entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills accessible and relevant for all students and trainees - regardless of career path - to help them build thriving careers and companies. If you can identify problems and imagine solutions to them - you can be an innovator and entrepreneur!

The LaunchPad has a history of major programming to empower participants to connect with mentors, grow their networks, and access the resources needed to accelerate their concepts into plans - and launch them into successful businesses! Starting with the UCSF Covid-19 Hackathon, and continuing through today, the LaunchPad offers many opportunities, including:

  • Competitions such as the iHackHealth Appathon
  • MedTech Happy Hours with innovators from industry and academia
  • Fireside-style conversations and case studies with seasoned entrepreneurs
  • Workshops that offer a crash course BootCamp into the world of entrepreneurship
  • Accessible mentorship and coaching
