UCSF has Launched a World-wide Citizen Science Study to Help Fight COVID-19

Mark Pletcher (UCSF CTSI Director of Informatics & Research Innovation), Gregory Marcus (Professor, Medicine) and Jeffrey Olgin (Chief, Division of Cardiology / Co-Director, Heart and Vascular Center) are using their Eureka Mobile Research Platform—an NIH funded digital research platform—to launch a world-wide study to track COVID-19 symptoms, infections, risk factors and behaviors that might impact spread. The study, called the COVID-19 Citizen Science Study, uses daily surveys to track risk factors, symptoms, exposures and COVID1-9 diagnoses as well as geolocation to understand the impact of people’s movement on the containment of the disease.
